It's Town Manager Alex Torpey here with another employee spotlight. We go behind the scenes at the Hanover Police Department's Regional Dispatch Center, which serves over 60 agencies in more than 20 communities across the Upper Valley of New Hampshire and Vermont.
In this episode, I take you behind the scenes where we meet half-dozen of Hanover's professional, empathetic, and knowledgeable emergency dispatchers. We'll learn about how things work on their end when they get a 911 call, what kind of technology has changed over the years, tips on how best to interact with 911 (Hint: call early!), what sort of emergencies they can help people with (Hint: all of them), how it feels to be the person responsible for so much, some fond memories from long serving employees, and how to get your horse unstuck from a fence.
